In February 1978, I spent the day at the Bob Hope Golf Classic in Palm Springs, California. In the center is former U.S. President Gerald Ford. Mr. Ford stood inches from me at one point, so I tapped him on the shoulder and ask him if I could shake his hand. (Not everyday you get a chance like that.) Jimmy Carter was President at the time. Mr. Ford and Mr. Carter are very close friends today.
